Hello Elvis Fans,
Thank you for visiting the Elvis' Angels Fan Club web site. This club was formed after I held an impersonator contest in 1997 at James Burton's Rock 'n Roll Cafe in Shreveport, Louisiana. Several ladies who attended asked me about forming a fan club that "did things" and brought fans together. With the help of our local television station, KTBS Channel 3, our newspaper, The Times, and KLKL Oldies Radio 95.7, I was ready to receive applications and start the fan club. On my birthday, August 14, 1997, from the lawn of Graceland, I announced that our club had been formed and would begin having meetings in September.
We started out with a handful and, to date, over 350 fans from across the country have joined our club, with 100 to 120 active members on the roster, including members as far away as Germany. We have an average of 30 members from Louisiana, Texas, and Arkansas attend the monthly meetings in Shreveport. We also have Honorary Members, including James and Louise Burton, Ronnie McDowell, and Tillman Franks, to name a few.
I am very proud of our club's charitable donations to Make-A-Wish Foundation of Louisiana. Since 1998, we have made donations of at least $1,000 each year to Make-A-Wish, and more when we host our Visions of the King - Show of Champions. We recently raised $2,500 from this year's Visions show. We appreciate the support of the community with our fundraisers.
We also contribute to other charitable organizations. We donated $1,000 to the Elvis Presley Trauma Center and have a plaque on the wall at their facility in Memphis, Tennessee. We have also donated to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, the March of Dimes, Presley Place, Carl Perkins Child Abuse Center, Toys For Tots, the McDade House, and the local food bank in Shreveport. Elvis always helped other people, so we will continue to make donations in his memory to help others.
Our most recent project was raising money for a statue to honor the outstanding contributions to music by Hall of Fame side-man, James Burton. As with the incredible statue of Elvis we had placed last year, what once was a dream is now reality and the statue of James Burton is now also in its deserved place in front of the Municipal Auditorium, where he began his career at age 14, playing guitar in the house band for the Hayride.
Elvis' Angels Fan Club is open to any age Elvis fan - young or young at heart. We welcome visitors at our monthly meeting on the third Saturday of the month. If you have any questions, please feel free to send an e-mail to me at Elvisluv7@aol.com.
Sincerely, and with love for Elvis always,
Dianne Patrick
